Pay it forward

How do you feel about spreading a bit of happiness?…

Silly Eagle BooksJust before Christmas Vanessa from Silly Eagle Books invited 3 of her readers to participate in Pay It Forward – a way of spreading some happiness around the blogosphere. I put my name down and in return I recently received a very exciting parcel which contained some real goodies, including a book I first heard of when it was featured on Silly Eagle Books, and which I am very happy to have in my own collection now.

May I Bring a Friend won the Caldecott Medal (an annual prize honouring the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children) in 1965 and is a wonderful book – I shan’t say much more here and now as I suspect I shall do a full-blown post on it in the next couple of weeks, but suffice to say it was a real treat to receive it.

Vanessa knows that our raison d’etre here at Playing by the book is play inspired by the books we read and she very thoughtfully enclosed 2 masks identical to those worn by a set of characters in the book so we’ve been all set up to act out the story – we’ve had lots of fun already!

Having been the lucky recipient of this (almost) random act of kindness it’s now my turn pay it forward. If you would like to receive a surprise gift from Playing by the book

  • Leave a comment on this post. If more than 3 of you leave a comment then I’ll select 3 people randomly at 7am (UK time) in two days time ie Thursday 28th January.
  • I’ll then send out a small surprise package to you, wherever you are in this world :-)
  • Once you’ve received the gift, pay it forward to three more people. This is the only “rule” of the game.

  • Just one aside – If you don’t have a blog I’m not sure how you can participate in this game – if you can work out a way to do it, then let me know and I’ll count you in for the draw.

Thanks again to Vanessa for our gift, and for spreading some happiness :-) I’m looking forward to my chance to spread a bit of joy about too!

I’m not trying to join in on the pay it forward–just want to say I am glad you enjoyed the book and that the girls got some fun out of the masks! :)

(I have been holding that post on the masks until you received so as not to ruin the surprise.)

Oh please put me in for pay-it-forward!

We’ve done a few craft swaps and I love things like this :)

      Many thanks
