The Book Bus – could you donate a book this weekend?

Posted on | April 9, 2010 | 1 Comment

When I went to donate my £10 to The Book Bus as part of my giveaway I noticed that there was a call for donations of books, ready for the next shipment on April 22nd. In the words of The Book Bus:

We are in constant need of book donations for our buses in Zambia and Ecuador and we are currently trying to stock a third bus.

Please donate generously and please donate soon!

Next shipment to Africa: 22nd April 2010

Please read the guidelines below before donating. We only require new books or books in very good condition.

Please send all book donations to:

The Book Bus Foundation
The Ironyard
64-66 Market Place

Guidelines

Topics that work
* Animals
* Monsters/magic

* African story books

(Amazon.co.uk has an amazing range of African animal tales – cheap and colourful and the right level)

Types of books
* Pop ups
* Non fiction (primary level)
* We seriously need more non fiction – the Usbourne Beginners series is the sort of thing, Also atlases etc
* Colourful/lots of pictures
* Counting books

Level to aim at
* Primary level books
* For English kids age 5 to 10 ideally
* We don’t need any more baby books or novels

Topics to avoid

* Western customs eg Christmas / tooth fairy

Please consider sending them a book this weekend – there’s still enough time for the book to reach them using Amazon’s Super Saver delivery service.

    Good luck Zoe. Commendable effort!

    I am trying to set up a summer reading program in a local orphanage. Will put up a post once I am done.
