Today’s pick is an article that simply made me happy… and determined! All about a Dad who read every night to his daughter for 3,218 nights… yes, that’s nearly 9 years. I hope I’m still reading to M and J when they’re in their late teens!
Here’s the link to the article, from the New York Times.
One of my favourite excerpts from the article is this:
Over the years, he has built a collection of 700 of the best books he and Kristen read together. “I don’t have much money to pass on,” he said. “But these books, she’ll read to hers and they’ll read to theirs. And they’ll read to the generations down the lines. It’s a means for me to touch generations I’ll never see.
I haven’t got any books that were read to my parents – but I’m off now to ask them what they were read and to see if I can find something they were read which I can now read to M and J.
What books have been shared by the generations in your family?
