A postcard giveaway!
Posted on | May 4, 2011 | 108 Comments
To celebrate the International Postcard Swap for Families (which you can still sign up for – all information is here) I have a couple of lovely giveaways lined up this month for you. Today you have the chance to win a copy of the newly published Where’s Wally? The Phenomenal Postcard Book.
Many hours have been spent pouring over Where’s Wally? (Where’s Waldo? in North America) books in our home. These books feature hugely detailed illustrations by Martin Handford typically full of people doing interesting things and the challenge is to find Wally on each page.
Thanks to the very generous folks at Walker Books I have two copies of the new postcard book of Where’s Wally illustrations to give away. Each “book” contains 30 beautifully produced postcards with scenes from seven Where’s Wally? books. You could use them to send to fellow book lovers, as part of the postcard swap, or simply to decorate a wall in your home.

Cathy at NurtureStore recently wrote about one way of encouraging writing in young kids – by providing them with lovely material for writing such as nice paper, easy to use pens and a special space. These Where’s Wally? postcards would make a perfect addition to such a creation station!
To enter, simply leave a comment on this post.
If you want extra chances to win this postcard set you can:
For any of the extra entries to count you must leave a separate comment here on this post saying what extra chance you’ve gone for (eg tweeted about the giveaway etc).
This giveaway:
The winner will be selected randomly with the help of random.org, and announced here on Playing by the book sometime during the day on 11th May. Good Luck!

Now this is awesome – my son (7) is a HUGE fan of Where’s Wally and has the solid gold collection. He is very proud of it because he worked hard to earn every book in it. Even though he achieved that goal nearly two years ago now, he still mentions it often. Where’s Wally consequently has an affectionate place in our family’s hearts.

We love Where’s Wally, the whole family. My husband isn’t a very confident reader at all so rarely reads to our two children (aged 7 and 8) but Where’s Wally is something he can share with them without having to read out loud.
For those of you who haven’t discovered the wonderful ‘Chaffy’ books, check them out too. Similar to the Wally books but may be suitable for younger children as not quite so tricky. We love them too! Good luck to everyone

My son just recently got a chance to look at a Waldo book. He loved it. I’m looking forward to winning this card book, wink, wink, fingers crossed. We don’t have any Waldo books, but I can’t wait to buy a couple. Don’t tweet or blog, but will post this swap on office bulletin board. Great idea though.
Thanks,
Janet
