Picture Book Month – Win a copy of Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth

Posted on | November 11, 2012 | 58 Comments

**This giveaway is now closed. It was won by No. 55, Rainie Bish**

Throughout Picture Book Month I’ll be giving away lots of wonderful picture books, co-inciding with the topics for each day. Today’s topic is Elephants and here’s what you could win:

Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth by Sanja Patel and Emilay Haynes

Yes, I have one copy of Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth to giveaway to a lucky reader. This bold and vivid picture book is loosely based on the tale of how Ganesha, a Hindu deity with an Elephant head, came to write the Mahabharata. The illustrations are fresh and stylish at the same time as echoing traditional Indian art, and the story involves sweets (candy) and magic; I think it will appeal to lots of young readers and listeners.

Our daughter, Molly (4.5 years old), has loved Ganesha for the last 2 years since learning about the story at the Art Institute in Chicago. Thanks for hosting a raffle!

Thank you for your wonderful posts!

I am entering this contest because I recently discussed the travesty of poaching of elephant tusks with my high school classes. All were horrified by the recent news of poaching practices in Africa.
I am hoping that Secretary Clinton’s new initiative for curtailing poaching is not too late.

The illustrations on this book look gorgeus. We are collecting books with stories from around the world for the girls, to inspire them to draw and dream about going places.
