Somewhere, not so far away, there’s a cave filled with tiny, cute creatures having adventures which you could join in with. There’s Skidaddler and Miniwiggler, Twiglittle and Spike Fox and many more of their friends, known collectively as the Little Somethings.
Created by Jill Lewis and Ali Pye, you can read how the Little Somethings face up to the Greedy Guzzler and overcome their fear when they meet Something Different in two charming picture books; Something Different and Something Delicious.
Both stories are sweet and thoughtful, exploring fear in a gentle and humorous way, eased enormously by the cast of endearing characters; I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a TV spinoff because the creatures are such fun and so lovable. The zingy illustrations make great use of jewel tones on dark backgrounds giving them an exotic, exciting flavour.
We’ve really enjoyed both books here in PBTB towers; indeed a few of the Little Somethings’ cousins have crept out of their hidey holes to join us:
M has had so much fun making up new Little Somethings she’s even made an order form for us to use:
If you’d like to have some Little Somethings come and share your home, here’s your chance: I have 3 copies of each pair of the Little Somethings books to give away!
