Stories in tune is a mini series here on Playing by the book where I focus on reviews of – and kids’ activities inspired by – picture books based on pieces of classical music.

I started this series as I wanted to find a way to listen to more classical music with my children – we listen to lots of other music all the time (indeed, music suggestions feature in every blog post on Playing by the book), but I realised that not much classical music was being heard, enjoyed and danced to. To start remedying this situation I decided to post once a month about picture books which have taken as their source of inspiration a given piece of classical music. My first Stories in tune post was about Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, whilst my second looked at Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

If you have any suggestions for future posts, I’d love to hear about them – please do get in touch!
