This fundraiser is now closed

To raise a little more for victims of the Japan Quake, I’m offering you a chance to win a brand new, signed paperback copy of Brian Wildsmith’s Animal Gallery.

Rather than an auction, I’m offering this as a raffle.

Here’s how to enter:

Go to (United Kingdom) or (United States) and make a donation (if you strongly prefer to donate to the Red Cross or other recognised charity I’ll accept donations there too).

  • Every $5 donation or £3 donation entitles you to one raffle ticket.

  • After you have made your donation, come back and leave a comment on this post, telling me how much you donated (ie how many tickets you have bought) and your receipt number. I may ask for proof (eg email receipt, screen shot) from the winner.

  • Don’t forget to leave your e-mail address in the comment too – you can write it as name ‘at’ yahoo ‘dot’ com if you are worried about spam.

  • If you make a mistake or need to change your comment, please go back and delete your first comment and rewrite it.

  • Open to anyone, anywhere in the world!

  • The raffle will close at midday UK time 26th March and the winner will be drawn at random and contacted by email.

  • For help with making a donation to Global Giving you can refer to this post

The raffle being held on this blog, and others around the blogosphere, is held in conjunction with Tokyo-based A Bit of This and A Bit of That. We are in no way affiliated with Global Giving, that’s just our chosen method of getting funds safely to the affected area.

If this book doesn’t appeal to you, then you might like to bid for a beautiful, handmade cherry blossom brooch which my sister has donated – click here to place a bid. All money raised will go to Global Giving’s Japan aid section.

I’ve donated $20 to Red Cross for Japan Earthquake Fund at
Receipt reference they emailed me is 111857
That’s 4 tickets (or depends on exchange rate, maybe only 3)
Great idea to get people to donate!!
      well done

PS you have to put a proper email address in otherwise it wont accept your comment (and deletes it – I’ve just rewritten it!)

I love your idea of tying a “giveaway” to helping the people of Japan. One of my first books was a Brian Wildsmith illustrated ABC – I still have it almost 40 years later! – so I’d love to win his Animal Gallery. I donated $5.00 to the U.S. Red Cross via iTunes.

I have blogged about this, Zoe and linked to your post. Though I haven’t donated, so I assume that this comment does not enter me in for the draw. I’m not very comfortable donating online. Sorry.

Oh Sandhya, I quite understand – don’t worry. Thanks for blogging about it.
