The coming week’s bookish radio delights to listen out for include:
The writer Gervase Phinn presents favourite readings, with Wilde, Heaney and Trollope.
The biggest news this week for fans of children’s literature was the announcement of the winners of the Newbery and Caldecott Awards. Here’s a great round up of all the American Library Association winners, from Fuse8.
Also worth a look is Steven Colbert’s interview with Maurice Sendak – I haven’t seen it (I haven’t been able to find a version available to view outside the US unfortunately), but it sounds like it was a pretty interesting exchange: “Sendak is famously NOT warm and fuzzy and does nothing in this interview to dispel that assessment.“

After all the buzz about the Sendak/Colbert interview I went looking for a video of it that I could actually watch – YouTube delivered and I’ve posted both parts of the interview at http://fallingsky.blogs.com/falling_sky/2012/01/maurice-sendak-children-eh.html (as long as The Powers That Be don’t get the video yanked from YouTube). Definitely well worth watching!
